Hi Fiona,

I'm hoping that the next day will pass quickly and will be thinking of you on Thursday. Don't worry about the cigs when you are ready to give up you will. I have a bad habit of stopping and starting - I'm off them at the momentThumpUp

Love,

Barbara

Much love and prayers Fiona, hope all goes very well...

And as for teens...I only have one, so far, and it is MUCH scarier then when they were all under 6 and controllable! LOLOL

Haven't been driven (back) to smoking yet but am addicted to wine (if you haven't already guessed! LOL)

well, only one more day to go now Fiona.

Hope that it does go ok and that at least now you will know what is going on.

TBH, for me these things are no different to what they were before you found out, they just have a title and a plan forward.

Not belittling what you are facing in any way but sharing how I mentally struggle through sometimes.

much love

Hi guys!
Well the results appointment has been and gone at last!
Due to Christmas preparations I have not had enough time
to post again until now, so sorry if anyone looked to see what
my results were before now!
It was a long wait until my 6.40p.m appointment and in the end
Steve and I sat in the kitchen looking at each other and he said "you
could always not turn up!"
But turn up we did and sat in the waiting room holding hands!
When the Doctor opened her door we wanted to run out of the building, but in we went!
It turned out that the reason they did not tell me why they wanted blood tests
was because the Hospital had requested that they check for Cancer of the bones!
(This was because I am a bit on the young side to have Kyphosis with collapse of
two vertabral bodies.)
BUT THE BLOODS AND URINE SAMPLE RULED THIS OUT!
I have multiple collapses in the Thoracic spine and a disc bulge in the cervical spine.(Neck).
But it doesn't end there, it seems that I have a haemangioma (the same as a "strawberry mark
that babies can develop - I did have one on my left side for years - but in my Spine and large!)
I told my Mum and she was most surprized! (I have never suffered with upper back pain before all
this happened!
But the scan showed that it is benign!
The Hospital has recommended that if I am still symptomatic after 6 to 8 weeks of conservative
treatment then I can be considered for a vertobroplasty. (Patched up with some cement?)
Steve and I went home on such a high of relief, but the 'phone went at 2.30a.m, (luckily we were
still drinking red wine at that time to celebrate), and it was my youngest son (remember they usually
freak out in turns the three of them), sounding quite desperate!
He is 29 now, but had his drink spiked in a bar!
Three other people were also spiked and taken to Hospital, but my son lives very near the pub so went
home and 'phoned us after passing out for 6 hours!
Naturally I called a Taxi to bring him to our house so that we could assess the state of him!
We finally got to bed at about 5.00a.m and my son was still not feeling right 12 hours later, but
much improved from the way he had been feeling!
He is fine again today and having Christmas at his brother and sister's house.
We still have some wine left and intend to enjoy some more of it tonight after what ultimately
was a good outcome for me at the Doctors!
Much love to you all,
and thank you for being there for me.
Merry Christmas,
FionaSmile

Hi Fiona,

I loved the video!ThumpUp

What a shock for you to hear they were checking for cancer but I am SO glad it wasn't!
There does seem to be a lot of damage to your spine but at least yo know what it is now and why you've had (and still have to some extent) that terrible pain.
Did they say there was anything they could do for the haemangioma? Do they know how long that has been growing?
I wonder if it will shrink like the haemangiomas on the skin do?
Sorry for all the questions,( I sound like a nosey cow) but it intrigues me!
Anyway, the main thing for you is that there is treatment available for your spine if you need it. No wonder you are celebrating and I'm so glad for you.

That was horrendous what happened to your son!
The early morning phone call...you just know as soon as it starts ringing don't you?
When Hannah was younger she used to tell us we shouldn't worry about her, we should trust her. She understands now she's older that it's not her we worry about, it's other people doing things like spiking drinks etc!
I'm glad he's recovered now and you are enjoying Christmas.
Enjoy the rest of your wine too, you deserve it , Cheers!

Love, Doreen xx

Dear Fiona,

Glad that although you have problems with your spine, they are manageable and not cancer.
I hope that your son and his friends recover from the spiking. Shocking nasty thing to do!

hi again fi

I am pleased it went well, although mixed emotions I am sure.

I have to say I was immediately pleased to read re the concrete in the spine- they have had such great success with this in Southampton near me.

this might also give some encouraging news

Relieved for you that the wait is over and that the results are something that you can celebrate!
Difficult times, but than goodness they are not the nasty ones you were dreading.
Loved the video!
Have a wonderful New Year,
lots of love
